July 2012

The FDA approved the new weight loss drug, Belviq (Lorcaserin Hydrochloride).
Belviq works by activating the serotonin 2C receptor in the brain. Activation of this receptor may help a person eat less and feel full after eating smaller amounts of food.  We will advise our customers regarding price and availability as soon as the information becomes available.
The FDA has delayed its decision to approve the weight loss drug, Qnexa.  The target date has been pushed back to July 17 to consider a new drug safety plan submitted by the manufacturer, Vivus.   Previously, the agency was scheduled to make a decision by April 17.  Vivus stated the three-month extension is standard when companies submit additional risk management information for a drug.
Akrimax Pharmaceuticals is currently manufacturing Phentermine Hydrochloride 15mg and 30mg tablets.  Their products are orally disintegrating tablets (ODT) and can be taken with or without water.   Akrimax is marketing their Phentermine as “Brand” items under the name Suprenza.  Please contact us for additional product information.
Sandoz is now manufacturing Phentermine 15mg gray/yellow capsules and Phentermine 30mg yellow capsules.  We carry both products in 1000ct bottles only.
Our July/August flier will be mailed the week of July 9th.  We were waiting for information regarding the new weight loss drug, Belviq, but have not yet heard about  availability and price of this medication.
