The FDA panel recently recommended that the FDA give approval to the new weight loss drug Qnexa. Although the FDA isn’t required to follow the recommendations of its special panels, it often does. The FDA expects to make their final decision by the end of April. Qnexa is a combination of Phentermine and Topamax (Topiramate). Both of the medications are available separately as generic. If Qnexa ends up being approved, the FDA scientists said they would require Vivus, the manufacturer, to train prescribers to educate patients on the pregnancy risks of Qnexa. Only 10 mail-order pharmacies would be permitted to sell the drug. We will advise our customers as we learn more information about product availability.
Lannett will begin manufacturing Phentermine 15mg gray/yellow capsules. We expect to receive our first shipment the week of March 19. Please give us a call for pricing on this new product.
